Section 2: Deciding on the evaluation approach

To illustrate how different approaches to evaluation are likely to be needed in a range of leadership development situations, we draw a distinction here between two types of learning activity. The first are Abstract learning approaches, covering learning programmes which generally take place off-the-job and have relatively fixed learning outcomes. The second category are called ‘Person-centred’ learning which includes techniques such as coaching and mentoring.
